Hainault Forest is really a geosite located between Hainault, in Redbridge, from the London Borough of Havering, and in the parish of Lambourne, within the Epping Forest Borough of Essex. It can be a region of 136 hectares, managed by various bodies, depending on the area: the Redbridge area is managed by Redbridge Council, even though the Essex part is managed because of the Woodland Belief.
In 1998, the Woodland Belief took a fifty-year lease from Essex County Council on 113 hectares (280 acres) in the woodland and deal with it over the council’s behalf as Hainault Forest.
The Hainault Forest restoration project will likely be aiming to convey again a natural and wild ancient landscape, restoring the Forest to a time before deforestation inside the nineteenth century.
